Tourism development

Tourism in Gorenjska has been recognized as one of the most important development opportunities of the region. In this field, there are most investments, projects and job creation predicted for the period 2007 – 2013. Therefore, achieving such a degree of development requires efficient organisation, management and coordination of performing basic development functions on the level of tourist destination.

Thus, apart from the implementation of over hundred projects, the key goal of Gorenjska in the period 2007 – 2013 is to establish an efficiently organized and recognizable tourist destination of Gorenjska in the form of the Regional destination organisation (BSC) and to develop regional integrated tourism products.

Defined in the Regional development programme for Gorenjska 2007 – 2013, the activities for the preparation of tourism organisation model in Gorenjska and development of attractive and profitable regional tourism products began under the lead of BSC already in September 2006 within the Board for tourism, sports and culture in the Regional development council of Gorenjska.
