Cross-border cooperation

Gorenjska has been successfully active in the cross-border cooperation programmes since 1995 when it was enabled to cooperate within the Phare CBC Slovenia/Austria cross-border programme. During the years, the rate of cooperation with cross-border partners and border development institutions has increased, and thus also the quality of cross-border projects. In the 2007 - 2013 financial perspective, the entire area of the Gorenjska development region will have a right to cooperate on a cross-border level with the neighbouring Austria as well as Italy. Through cross-border projects, Gorenjska wants to upgrade its knowledge, gain experience, find innovative solutions and infrastructure support which is necessary for the implementation of key goals and priorities of the Gorenjska Regional Development Programme for the Period 2007 - 2013.

Our services

BSC, d.o.o., Kranj, the Regional Development Agency of Gorenjska has a professional team of experts with broad experience in cross-border programmes and projects. Thus, it helps public institutions and companies search for partnerships, develop and implement cross-border projects. Moreover, BSC has a wide cross-border network of regional development institutions. Within cross-border cooperation with Austrian Carinthia, BSC is a co-founder of the Crossborder Work Group - Karavanke Regional Partnership which was established in 2002 on the initiative of seven development agencies along the Slovene-Austrian Carinthian border. It is aimed at coordination of development efforts on both sides of the border in the fields of economy, education, culture, transport, and environment.
