Territorial cooperation

A new financial period brings new challenges for the territorial cooperation. Globalisation dictates higher competitiveness of the regions; therefore, partnership between regions and willingness to cooperate are essential for the future. Gorenjska has over decades of experience in cooperation with foreign regions/countries and 180 implemented projects – which represent a good starting-point.

Considering the importance of cooperation between regions/countries in the new extended Europe, the European cohesion policy set its third goal known as “European territorial cooperation”. It aims at strengthening cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation.

By pursuing goal no. 3 - European territorial cooperation - in the period 2007 – 2013, Gorenjska will cooperate, with the support of BSC, on four levels:

  • cross-border,
  • transnational,
  • interregional level,
  • and outside of the EU.
